Innovative companies like to be disruptive in both their technology and business models, and Match Point Strategies seeks to do the same with our customized approach for our clients. Summer is a great time for our readers to kick back and hear what other innovators are up to, so we’re taking to the open road in search of interesting companies and technologies. From manufacturing pioneers to eco-friendly trailblazers, we see these companies as materials game-changers. Match Point Strategies shares their vision and strives to pivot from today’s stale sales strategies with bold and differentiated methods.

Our road trip across America in search of technology value begins in Massachusetts with Voxel8, a designer and manufacturer of electronic devices. Named one of the 2016 Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum, Voxel8 has created a multi-material 3D printer capable of printing embedded electronics. This isn’t your typical 3D printer; Voxel8’s prototype can print both conductive ink and plastics, meaning that an entire project can be completed in a single printing. This reduces the amount of materials used and speeds up the development cycle time, creating a highly effective and efficient early-stage manufacturing process.

Next up is Arizona, where SDCmaterials is revolutionizing materials engineering by creating products that can be integrated into existing manufacturing processes. In the automotive industry, SDC has developed emission control catalyst ingredients that improve the efficiency of precious metals, leading to better fuel economy, lower emissions, and reduced pollution. This innovation also extends beyond the automotive industry, with SDC exploring ways to apply this technology in other key markets such as batteries, magnetics, and printable electronics.

The last stop on our technology road trip is San Francisco, home of Bolt Threads and the future of high performance fabrics. Led by world-class scientific talent, Bolt Threads is an idea-driven company specializing in the unconventional, namely creating advanced textiles through biotechnology. Rather than following the synthetic path, Bolt Threads looks to nature for inspiration behind their products, using proteins to create sustainable, multi-use fibers. Durable, strong, sustainable yet soft, this fiber is futuristic. And while the company may have only just launched their first product (a spider silk necktie), it is poised to expand in the years to come thanks to a recently-inked partnership with outdoor clothing manufacturer Patagonia and other collaborations in the pipeline.
